Additional helpful information from the Meet Coordinator:

Hello Everyone!

We are just a few days away from the 2024 Region 9 Championships men’s gymnastics meet! Below is some very important information – please pass this on to all of your coaches and families before they head out for a fantastic weekend. We wish everyone safe travels to the beautiful Air Force Academy.

This year’s event is being held in the Cadet West Gym.

Directions

All spectators and participants must enter the Air Force Academy through the North Gate, exit 156 off of I-25. The venue directions are attached for your reference.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When you reach the guard building at the North Gate, everyone in the vehicle over the age of 18 should be prepared to show a picture ID (not just the driver), and your vehicle is subject to search. Be sure to allow enough time for this when arriving at the meet as there can be backups during high traffic times Weapons are not allowed on the Academy grounds, so if you normally carry any type of weapon in your car or on your person, please plan to leave that behind.

Admission Fee

The meet entry fee for each Regional session is $20, children under 2 are free. PLEASE LET YOUR FAMILIES KNOW THIS IS CASH ONLY! Thank you!

Clear Bag Policy

The Air Force Academy has implemented a clear bag policy for all facilities. Spectators are allowed to bring a single Clear Bag per person. The attached Entry_Policy_Cadet_Gym_2022-23.pdf lists all the Cadet Gymnastics Entry Policy rules and prohibited items. All personal belongings are subject to search by Academy security personnel. This policy will be strictly enforced for all Regional sessions.

Spectators will be allowed to bring in outside food items in a clear gallon sized ziplock bag. This requirement does not apply to athletes or coaches.

Hard sided (or Nalgene) plastic bottles will be allowed for coaches and athletes, but not for spectators. Spectators are only allowed to bring in factory-sealed or empty transparent soft plastic water bottles. There are water fountains available in the Cadet Gymnastics for refilling water bottles.

BAGS: Many types of bags are not allowed – please review this information in the attached Entry policy document. Backpacks/duffle bags are allowed for coaches/judges/athletes, but not for spectators. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR COACHES AND FAMILIES ARE AWARE OF THESE REQUIREMENTS!

Parking

The North Gate will open to visitors at 5:30 am. If anyone chooses to arrive before that time you will need to wait and then enter when directed by the North Gate guards. All participants can park in any of the Field House parking lots. Once you park near the Field House, you will have to walk a bit to the west past the Field House and another building that looks like offices. Continue west toward the tennis courts and you will see the Cadet gym. Enter on the east side of this building and walk all the way down to the far end to get to the gymnastics area. There should be signs once you get to the Cadet Gym pointing you in the correct direction.

Concessions

AFA will provide a variety of concession options located near the Cadet Center Gym through the duration of the event. Concessions will be credit card only – no cash.

T-Shirts and Meet Photographer

Meet apparel and action photographs will be available at the meet. Vendors will only accept credit cards – no cash.

Awards

All awards ceremonies will take place after each session in the Fencing Gym, located just down the hall to the right from the West Gym. Signs will direct gymnastics spectators to the awards area.

Restrooms

Restrooms are located in the hallway near the West Gym and at the main entrance of the Cadet Gym.

Security

All individuals and bags are subject to search when entering the West Gym.

Air Force Academy

Allow some time to visit the Air Force Academy, Gift Shop, and Visitors Center – this is a beautiful location!

We look forward to seeing everyone this coming weekend!
